1. How do I apply?
Please only apply using our online application tool. Please make sure you have all the required documents such as your CV, cover letter, certificates, letters of recommendation and/or work samples. You can find out exactly which documents we require from you in the corresponding job ad. By uploading all necessary documents, you help the application process run as smoothly as possible
2. What language should I use for my application?
Whilst we’re present in 14 different countries around the world and our recruiters speak several different languages, we don’t understand all languages of course. 😉 You should always prepare your application in the language the corresponding job ad was written in. If you’re unsure, English is always a safe choice.
3. What format should I upload my application in?
Please upload your application and attachments in PDF format where possible. This ensures that we receive your application just how you sent it. Please bear in mind that the documents may not exceed 10 MB in total.
4. What kind of certificates should I enclose in my application?
Please only send us relevant certificates, such as the certificate from your highest level of education and any work references you may have for instance. If you don’t yet have a written reference from your last employee, your referee’s contact details will suffice for the time being.
In Germany, ‘work references’ refer to official letters from employees which provide information regarding an employee’s qualifications and competency. Every employee has the right to this certificate upon leaving a company. Moreover, it’s completely normal to ask your employer for this for application purposes. If you aren’t from Germany, it may well be the case that you don’t have any official letters like these. If so, please send us any comparable documents or the current contact details of your referees.
5. Can I still apply if I don't yet have all the required documents?
If you haven’t yet received your graduation certificate or last work reference, you can still apply of course. Simply mention in a short sentence or two in your application that you’ll provide the missing documents or relevant references (like in point 4) at a later date.
6. Do I have to write a cover letter?
We want to make our application process as pleasant as possible. Although a cover letter isn’t required for all applications, it really helps us build up a clear picture of your motivations to work here and see how qualified you are. It also emphasises your interest in our company. The job ad will mention whether you should write a cover letter or not.
7. What do I do if I can't upload my application using the online application tool?
Please recheck whether you have uploaded all the required documents and have filled in all the necessary fields. You must always upload your CV and enter your first name and surname as well as email address in the fields marked red. Please also make sure that your attachments don’t exceed 10 MB. If you’re still unable to upload your documents, just send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
8. How long can I expect to wait before receiving an initial response?
We’ll try to process your application as quickly as possible. It could take us up to three weeks to provide an initial response if there are a large number of applicants. We therefore ask for your patience.
9. What happens if the job I wanted to apply for is no longer listed on the jobs page?
We regularly update our job ads. If you’re unable to find a particular position, it’s likely no longer vacant or the application process has closed. To be on the safe side, feel free to contact our recruiting team.
10. Is there a dress code at Visual Meta?
We don’t have a dress code here. Just come dressed in something you feel comfortable to work in.
11. How can I delete my application documents / details?
By accepting our data protection conditions, you confirm your consent to having us store your personal details for up to 12 months. Your information will be deleted automatically after 12 months. You can also have your application documents deleted earlier if you’d prefer by sending a brief email via our online application tool or to email@example.com.
12. I don't have a work visa for Germany. Can I still apply?
Yes! Every citizen of the European Union is permitted to work in Germany. If you come from a country outside the EU and we decide to hire you at the end of the application process, we will support your application for a work visa.
If you have any more questions, feel free to contact us at jobs@visual-meta.
