OUR CULTURE

Hundreds of individuals from different continents come together in one location. Our micro melting pot in the heart of Berlin is a place, where interesting people work on interesting projects. Connecting their cultures and ideas and skills to create cutting-edge virtual shopping platforms. In an atmosphere that is built on appreciation – right from the start. As well as a clear understanding of what kind of behavior makes every single employee succeed at Visual Meta:

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

SEE THE BIG PICTURE

Whatever you do at Visual Meta, you have to keep our three customers in mind: Bots, Shops & Users. We need to balance the different needs of those customers in order to be successful. Even when that means, that we miss out on certain opportunities for one of them.

FOCUS ON IMPACT

To have an impact, you have to focus on the things that really make a difference. Therefore, you need to ask yourself every day if the tasks you are working on are the ones that really help us to achieve our goals.

PROVE YOUR POINT

If you want to improve something, gather facts and figures to back up your arguments. Seek supporters and pitch your case.

GET THINGS DONE

In order to get things done, you need to follow through with what you started. Sometimes getting small things done is better than big things not done.

WORK HARD, ENJOY LIFE

While in the office, work hard on what is on your agenda and make the most of your time. Once that is accomplished, go home and enjoy life.

PLAY FOR THE TEAM

In order to be successful as a team, you need to put the interest of the team before your own and treat others like you want to be treated.

DON´T BE AFRAID TO FAIL

If you want to get ahead, you have to try out new things and take calculated risks. Failure is valuable as long as it helps you to get better.

Ok, Google, it’s time to play fair!

December 10, 2019
Visual Meta GmbH and 40 other European comparison shopping entities are pushing the European Commission to take action against Google’s abuse of its market power. Why should you care? – Because Google’s unfair practices affect us all! By placing its own comparison shopping service, Google Shopping, at the top of the search results page, Google is getting an unfair competitive advantage over its rivals. This results in less competition and higher prices in the product and price comparison market. Two years ago the Commission already fined Google 2.4 billion euros for these practices. Since then the concern has been trying to maintain the appearance of fair competition but in reality the situation is now even worse than in 2017. That is why Visual Meta GmbH and other European comparison shopping services have recently called for more decisive actions against the search giant. To learn more about the case read the Joint Letter of 41 CCSs to Ms Vestager on Google Shopping Non-Compliance.

Happy St. Nicholas Day

December 6, 2019
Since we’re always so good at Visual Meta Saint Nicholas has not forgotten about us today and brought us some very practical and sustainable gifts – reusable produce bags filled with fruit, nuts and sweets! That was a nice beginning of the day and to end it just as well we are having a winter pop-up with Glühwein and more sweet treats!

Digital Analytics Meetup recap

December 3, 2019
So that was it. Our last meetup for this year ended as usual, way after the speakers finished their talks. We’ve seen the status of the current concept of a Web Session, followed by the power of KNIME workflows at extracting valuable insights from big datasets. It’s a delight to see so many people interested in the topic of Data Analytics but also how many of you were open to socialize and hangout at our offices until the later hours of the afternoon. Thank you to Marco Szeidenleder and his team at Pandata for collaborating with us on this event but also huge thanks to the organizer Tudor Lesan and our volunteers (Samy Gerges, Mohammed Shah Jamal & Kateryna Prymakova), without which we could not make events like this possible.
